The Ulysse Nardin Freak X Grey distils the radical spirit of the Freak into a refined, highly wearable form. Introduced as part of the latest-generation Freak X collection, it celebrates two major milestones for Ulysse Nardin: 180 years of watchmaking heritage and 25 years since the original Freak changed contemporary horology.
Housed in a newly reengineered 41 mm monobloc case crafted from 80% recycled stainless steel, the Freak X Grey combines everyday versatility with unmistakable high-horology presence. Contrasting satin-brushed, polished and hand-finished surfaces give the case depth and definition, while the cognac nubuck leather strap softens the technical character with a warm, elegant finish.
At the centre of the watch is the all-new in-house UN-232 automatic calibre, developed over more than two years by Ulysse Nardin’s engineers and designers. Slimmer, smarter and mechanically more advanced than the previous generation, the movement is produced at the Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds and assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker.
The Freak X Grey displays time through one of Ulysse Nardin’s most iconic ideas: a flying carousel movement that rotates around its own axis to indicate the minutes, with hours read from the dial-side pointer. This unconventional architecture gives the watch a sense of movement, depth and mechanical theatre unlike a traditional timepiece.
Built from 216 components with 27 jewels, the UN-232 calibre delivers a 72-hour power reserve. Its advanced regulating system includes an oversized silicon balance wheel and balance spring, together with a DIAMonSIL escapement wheel and anchor, reaffirming Ulysse Nardin’s pioneering role in high-tech watchmaking.
Finished with a quick-release interchangeable strap system, the Freak X Grey is designed to be worn differently, styled easily and experienced every day. Technical, elegant and unmistakably modern, it brings the Freak’s disruptive identity into its most versatile expression.
