TONDA HIJRI PERPETUAL CALENDAR PLATINUM SLATE GREEN

Sale price£87,000.00

In the Muslim world, the calendar is based on the cycles of the moon. The Hijri or Islamic lunar calendar consists of twelve months of 29 or 30 days – depending on the moon phase- and is used to pinpoint the days for Islamic holidays. In contrast to the solar calendar, which is used in the west, the months of the lunar calendar change annually by a difference of -10 to -12 days. As a result, each month always falls on a different season and therefore varies from the Gregorian Calendar.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Hijri Perpetual Calendar takes all this into account, with its innovative mechanism developed entirely in-house as a result of Michel Parmigiani’s work with an antique Arabic calendar pocket watch. The counter at 12 o’clock displays the 30-year cycle, with abundant years indicated in green-colored script. The counter at 3 o’clock displays, using a hand, the month of the Islamic calendar, with the holy month of Ramadan indicated in red script. At 6 o’clock, an aventurine moon disc with polished moons shows the phase of the moon in the Northern Hemisphere. Finally, the counter at 9 o’clock displays the date, with a circular aperture revealing a white marker if the month has 29 days and a sand-colored marker if the month has 30 days.

The discipline of refined watchmaking

Parmigiani Fleurier defines its identity through a fully integrated approach to watchmaking, where every stage of creation is carried out within a single, vertically unified manufacture. From design and movement engineering to case construction and dial finishing, each component is developed within a connected ecosystem of specialist ateliers, allowing for complete control over both technical execution and aesthetic direction. This structure enables the Maison to refine every detail with precision, ensuring consistency, harmony, and a distinctly coherent design language across all timepieces.

At the heart of its process lies a philosophy shaped by restoration expertise and applied craftsmanship, where historical watchmaking knowledge informs modern innovation. Multiple in-house specialists collaborate across disciplines, bringing together traditional artisanal skills such as guilloché and enamelling with advanced manufacturing techniques. The result is a collection of timepieces defined by depth, refinement, and mechanical integrity, where each watch reflects a disciplined balance between heritage-inspired artistry and contemporary horological performance.

The architecture of complete watchmaking

Parmigiani Fleurier unites every stage of watchmaking within one integrated creative ecosystem. The result is coherent timepieces defined by harmony, restraint, and technical clarity.
