Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton Red Gold LTD 28
The Finesse of Curves
At the crossroads of architectural openness and high-precision watchmaking, Arnold & Son unveils the Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton Red Gold—a timepiece that transforms the flying tourbillon into a sculptural expression of lightness, depth, and mechanical elegance.
Housed in a 41.5mm case crafted from 18-carat 5N red gold, this limited edition of 28 pieces embodies the Maison’s chronometric heritage with refined warmth and contemporary sophistication. Its wide apertures and graceful curves reveal the skeletonised architecture of the movement, allowing the eye to move freely through bridges, voids, and polished surfaces.
Mechanical Refinement: The A&S8320 Calibre
At the heart of the Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton Red Gold beats the Calibre A&S8320, a manual-winding Manufacture movement whose openworked construction gives the watch its distinctive identity. Measuring just 3.30mm thick, this skeleton tourbillon calibre stands out for both its finesse and its architectural complexity.
Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz and offering a remarkable 100-hour power reserve, the A&S8320 calibre reflects Arnold & Son’s pursuit of chronometric excellence. Its 29 jewels, 32mm diameter, and refined skeletonisation create a movement that is not only technically accomplished, but visually expressive in every detail.
A Skeleton in Red Gold: Curves, Light and Depth
The identity of the Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton Red Gold is expressed through the originality of its openworked calibre. Rather than following a purely geometric or minimal skeletonisation, the movement reveals pronounced curves, wide apertures, and numerous inflection points, creating a dynamic and almost organic architecture.
The bridges are decorated with radiating Côtes de Genève stripes before receiving a rose-gold PVD treatment, while the flange around the calibre adopts the same finish. This warm, luminous architecture frames the off-centred white opal dial, allowing it to appear in its purest form while preserving the clarity of the hours and minutes.
The Flying Tourbillon: Precision in Motion
Positioned within the openworked calibre, the one-minute flying tourbillon becomes the mechanical and visual heart of the composition. Designed without an upper bridge in order to minimise thickness, it expresses the Maison’s mastery of ultra-thin tourbillon construction.
Its variable-inertia balance with inertia blocks ensures enhanced calibration stability over time. The slender triangular carriage is supported by a double-arrow counterpoise, while the arrowhead on the escape wheel staff serves as a seconds pointer as the carriage completes one full rotation per minute.
