Time Pyramid 42.5 red gold white opal LTD 8
Elegance in Levitation
At the crossroads of architectural transparency and chronometric refinement, Arnold & Son unveils the Time Pyramid 42.5 Red Gold—a timepiece that transforms the structure of a movement into a sculptural expression of balance, depth, and symmetry.
Housed in a 42.5mm case crafted from 18-carat 5N red gold, this limited edition of 8 pieces celebrates the Maison’s uniquely British watchmaking heritage. Beneath its domed sapphire crystal, the pyramid-shaped A&S1615 calibre appears to float within the case, revealing a mechanical architecture that seems suspended between light, space, and time.
Mechanical Architecture: The A&S1615 Calibre
At the heart of the Time Pyramid 42.5 Red Gold beats the Calibre A&S1615, a hand-wound Manufacture movement whose openworked construction gives the watch its unmistakable identity. Its fixed components form a pyramid-shaped structure directly inspired by the external architecture of an ornamental precision regulator clock created in the 1830s by John Roger Arnold, son of John Arnold.
Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz and offering a 90-hour power reserve, the A&S1615 calibre combines visual drama with chronometric purpose. Its balance wheel is positioned at 12 o’clock, while the movement’s vertical layout invites the eye to travel through a sequence of circles, bridges, and gears, plunging into the heart of the mechanism.
A Study in Symmetry: Double Power Reserve
The identity of the Time Pyramid is expressed through its extraordinary mechanical balance. Two power-reserve indicators are positioned on either side of the gear train, reinforcing the symmetry that defines the collection.
Their hands point to arcs of markers applied to the reverse of the upper sapphire crystal, creating the impression that information itself is floating above the movement. As one barrel transfers energy to the other, one indicator falls while the other rises, offering a precise yet intriguing reading of the reserve level and the torque delivered.
A Dialogue of Materials: Red Gold, White Opal and Malachite
The Time Pyramid 42.5 Red Gold brings warmth and contrast to this architectural composition. The 18-carat 5N red gold case magnifies the transparency of the openworked calibre, while the white opal dial brings a refined luminous presence to the display.
On the back, the watch is lined with a disc of malachite beneath sapphire crystal, revealing deep green shades that echo the collection’s themes of balance and prosperity. Long associated with protection and harmony, malachite becomes more than a decorative stone here: it forms a symbolic backdrop to the pyramid-shaped movement and enhances the watch’s sense of depth.
