Housed in a 44mm platinum case, this limited creation opens a new chapter in the Luna Magna collection. Beneath its domed sapphire crystal, a hand-engraved dragon in white gold coils across a verdite dial, bringing together the mineral depth of an ornamental stone and the symbolic power of one of watchmaking’s most expressive artistic motifs.

Astronomical Precision: The A&S1021 Calibre

At the heart of the Luna Magna Platinum Dragon Verdite beats the Calibre A&S1021, a manual-winding Manufacture movement fully developed, machined, assembled, and adjusted in-house by Arnold & Son. Conceived around the three-dimensional lunar globe, this calibre gives mechanical life to one of the Maison’s most poetic complications.

Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz and offering a 90-hour power reserve, the A&S1021 calibre combines chronometric reliability with astronomical refinement. On the caseback, a secondary moon-age display with clearly marked graduations allows the moon phase to be set with precision, reinforcing the watch’s role as both a work of art and a true celestial instrument.

A Moon in Three Dimensions

The Luna Magna collection is defined by its extraordinary spherical moon, one of the largest three-dimensional rotating moons ever integrated into a wristwatch. Positioned beneath the off-centred hours-and-minutes sub-dial at 12 o’clock, the lunar globe gives the composition its depth, balance, and sense of wonder.

Its mechanism reflects the actual duration of a complete lunar cycle: 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds. Thanks to Arnold & Son’s meticulous calculation, the display would require only a one-day correction after 122 years, provided the watch remains fully wound.

A Mythical Dial: Verdite and White Gold

The identity of the Luna Magna Platinum Dragon Verdite is expressed through a rare ornamental stone selected for its rich green nuances. The verdite dial forms a mineral landscape on which the dragon appears to move, its body sculpted from a block of white gold and meticulously hand-engraved with remarkable realism.

Scales, claws, crest, beard, and gaze are brought to life in high relief, revealing the mastery of the artisans behind this creation. The white opal hours-and-minutes sub-dial adds a luminous counterpoint, enhanced with luminescent material that glows softly in the dark like moonlight over stone.
