Chronometry HM Steel Pietersite LTD 28

Sale price£17,000.00

The Stone of Storms, Captured in Time

At the crossroads of mineral beauty and refined chronometry, Arnold & Son unveils the HM Steel Pietersite—a timepiece that transforms the purity of a two-hand dress watch into a poetic landscape of movement, texture, and light.

Housed in a 39.5mm stainless steel case measuring just 7.82mm thick, this limited edition of 28 pieces embodies the Maison’s ability to express mechanical sophistication with elegant restraint. Its dial, crafted from Namibian pietersite, evokes the force of a storm in motion: swirling skies, breaking waves, and the rugged coastline of Cornwall, birthplace of John Arnold.

Mechanical Elegance: The A&S1001 Calibre

At the heart of the HM Steel Pietersite beats the Calibre A&S1001, an in-house manual-winding movement developed by Arnold & Son. Measuring only 2.70mm thick, this ultra-thin calibre gives the watch its graceful profile while preserving the mechanical integrity and finishing expected of a refined dress watch.

Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz and offering a generous 90-hour power reserve, the A&S1001 calibre reflects the Maison’s chronometric heritage. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, it reveals a rhodium-plated main plate with circular graining, chamfered bridges decorated with radiating Côtes de Genève, snail-finished wheels, and blued screws with polished heads.

A Dial of Pietersite: Storm, Stone and Story

The identity of the HM Steel Pietersite is expressed through its remarkable ornamental stone dial. Sometimes known as the “stone of storms”, pietersite is a variety of chalcedony discovered in Namibia in the early 1960s and selected here for its delicate, swirling, unpredictable patterns.

Each dial becomes a unique natural composition, recalling the dramatic skies of Cornwall during rough weather and the foaming waves that strike its rugged shores. Its mineral depth brings emotional intensity to an otherwise restrained display, allowing hours and minutes to unfold with clarity and quiet power.

THREE FOUNDING PRINCIPLES

ASTRONOMY, CHRONOMETRY AND WORLD TIME

Astronomy, Chronometry, and World Time form the core identity of Arnold & Son. Through finely crafted complications and subtle references to its maritime heritage, the Maison continues to draw inspiration from these three founding principles, each one reflecting the enduring legacy of John Arnold.

HERE, ELSEWHERE, EVERYWHERE

World Time redefines the way we perceive time by seamlessly integrating global time zones into watchmaking. At Arnold & Son, it is more than a function—it reflects a commitment to connectivity, precision, and innovation.
